LOCAL VIEWS is a program produced by Volunteers who are committed to an open government and an enlightened community. The essence of their work is to see that the democratic values and the intents of our American forefathers are being carried out in every phase of government and in as many levels of government as can be operationally handled
by so few of us and with so little money.
LOCAL VIEWS is specifically interested in having citizens understand their rights and realize the principles drawn up in the Open Meetings Law # 100:
"It is essential to the maintenance of a democratic society that the public business be performed in an open and public manner and that the citizens of this state be fully aware of and able to observe the performance of public officials and attend and listen to the deliberations that go into the making of public policy".
Furthermore, their desire is to interest more citizens in becoming engaged in the conversation in order to improve their quality of life. A conversation based in whole or in part on the issues that operate within the structure of regional government; from political parties to the board of elections, to the environment, from disasters to self improvement, from cultural exploration to the money and the taxes; how much and how it is used.
